Introduction
These notes describe the Modules Package (modules), version
2.2.2.4 The IRIX Modules Package contains the Modules
utility.
For more information on the Modules Package, please read
/opt/modules/2.2.2.4/doc/Modules-Paper.ps.
1.1 System_Prerequisite
If you plan to run any IRIX applications, it is important to
note that you must install the IRIX Compiler EOE.
1.2 Release_Identification_Information
Following is the release identification information for the
IRIX Modules Package (modules):
Software Product modules
Version 2.2.2.4
System Software Requirements IRIX 6.2 (or later)
1.3 Modules_Package_2.2.2.4_Subsystems
The 2.2.2.4 IRIX Modules software (modules) includes these
subsystems:
modules.sw.base Base modules software (default)
modules.sw.mipspro MIPSpro modulefiles (default)
modules.sw.nqe NQE modulefile (default)
modules.sw.scsl SCSL modulefile (default)
modules.sw.mpt MPT modulefile (default)
modules.man.relnotes IRIX Module Package release notes
(default)
modules.man.module IRIX module and modulefile man
pages (default)
If you are installing this option for the first time, the
subsystems marked ``default'' are those that are installed
if you use the ``go'' menu item. To install a different set
of subsystems, use the ``install,'' ``remove,'' ``keep,''
and ``step'' commands in inst to customize the list of
subsystems to be installed, then select the ``go'' menu
item.
1.4 Online_Release_Notes
After you install the online documentation for a product
(the relnotes subsystem), you can view the release notes on
your screen.
If you have a graphics system, select ``Release Notes'' from
the Tools submenu of the Toolchest. This displays the
grelnotes(1) graphical browser for the online release notes.
Refer to the grelnotes(1) man page for information on
options to this command.
If you have a nongraphics system, you can use the relnotes
command. Refer to the relnotes(1) man page for accessing
the online release notes.
The relnotes command uses files in /usr/relnotes by
default. The command does not search a path and cannot
also search /opt files for relnotes information.
If a product is installed ONLY in /opt, relnotes are
at /opt/[product]/[version]/usr/relnotes and can
be read directly. You can also set RELNOTESPATH
to /opt/[product]/[version]/usr/relnotes and
use "relnotes [product]". You must then unset
RELNOTESPATH, so that products not installed in opt
will again be available to the relnotes command.
If a product is installed in both the root install and
/opt, invoking relnotes will display the root version only.
