  3. These notes describe the Modules Package (modules), version
  4. 2.2.2.4  The IRIX Modules Package contains the Modules
  5. utility.
  6.  
  7. For more information on the Modules Package, please read
  8. /opt/modules/2.2.2.4/doc/Modules-Paper.ps.
  9.  
  10. 1.1  System_Prerequisite
  11.  
  12. If you plan to run any IRIX applications, it is important to
  13. note that you must install the IRIX Compiler EOE.
  14.  
  15. 1.2  Release_Identification_Information
  16.  
  17. Following is the release identification information for the
  18. IRIX Modules Package (modules):
  19.

  24. 1.3  Modules_Package_2.2.2.4_Subsystems
  25.  
  26. The 2.2.2.4 IRIX Modules software (modules) includes these
  27. subsystems:
  28.  
  29. modules.sw.base            Base modules software (default)
  30. modules.sw.mipspro         MIPSpro modulefiles (default) 
  31. modules.sw.nqe             NQE modulefile (default)
  32. modules.sw.scsl            SCSL modulefile (default)
  33. modules.sw.mpt             MPT modulefile (default)
  34. modules.man.relnotes       IRIX Module Package release notes
  35.                            (default)
  36. modules.man.module         IRIX module and modulefile man
  37.                            pages (default)
  38.  
  39. If you are installing this option for the first time, the
  40. subsystems marked ``default'' are those that are installed
  41. if you use the ``go'' menu item.  To install a different set
  42. of subsystems, use the ``install,'' ``remove,'' ``keep,''
  43. and ``step'' commands in inst to customize the list of
  44. subsystems to be installed, then select the ``go'' menu
  45. item.

  47. 1.4  Online_Release_Notes
  48.  
  49. After you install the online documentation for a product
  50. (the relnotes subsystem), you can view the release notes on
  51. your screen.
  52.  
  53. If you have a graphics system, select ``Release Notes'' from
  54. the Tools submenu of the Toolchest. This displays the
  55. grelnotes(1) graphical browser for the online release notes.
  56. Refer to the grelnotes(1) man page for information on
  57. options to this command.
  58.  
  59. If you have a nongraphics system, you can use the relnotes
  60. command.  Refer to the relnotes(1) man page for accessing
  61. the online release notes.
  62.  
  63. The relnotes command uses files in /usr/relnotes by
  64. default.  The command does not search a path and cannot
  65. also search /opt files for relnotes information.
  66.  
  67. If a product is installed ONLY in /opt, relnotes are
  68. at /opt/[product]/[version]/usr/relnotes and can
  69. be read directly.  You can also set RELNOTESPATH
  70. to /opt/[product]/[version]/usr/relnotes and 
  71. use "relnotes [product]". You must then unset
  72. RELNOTESPATH, so that products not installed in opt
  73. will again be available to the relnotes command.

  75. If a product is installed in both the root install and
  76. /opt, invoking relnotes will display the root version only.
  77.  
  78. 1.5  Product_Support
  79.
